Zomato Eyeing Mid-Tier Towns For Growth, To Hire 5,000 Delivery Partners

India’s Leading online food aggregator will expand into 30 more cities in India, and plans to hire another 5,000 delivery partners.

Zomato is in proccess of massive consolidation phase to make strong and solid presence in India the food aggregator app, Zomato is expanding its services in 30 more cities in couple of months. After the expansion, the company will have a presence in 100 cities across India.

Currently Zomato is having big band expansion plans on their card, the company is also planning to recruit 5,000 people on board in their delivery team in upcoming cities such as Jamshedpur, Haridwar, Meerut, Ujjain are some of the upcoming cities in Zomato’s plan.

Currently, Zomato is already present in 93 cities across India and lists more than 75,000 restaurants on its platform.

“We have experienced an overwhelming reaction to our expansion across all of our businesses – Gold, Food Delivery and Supply. The number of Gold memberships sold in Manila and Jakarta within a week is beating early numbers of Delhi and Mumbai. HyperPure has had great reception, and we are opening up our next centre in the NCR in a couple of weeks. The Food@Work business has also been expanding into new markets. And of course, the Food Delivery business is ramping up really well with the growth in main markets, as well as the reception in Tier II Tier III cities.” said Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO, Zomato.

Zomato has also been successfully expanding in other parts of Asia, according to CEO Deepinder Goyal.

Commenting on the recent launches for the online ordering and food delivery business, Mohit Gupta, CEO – Food Delivery, Zomato said “We have been surprised by the demand in Tier II Tier III cities and are therefore gung-ho on serving every last customer, in the smallest of towns in India. We will be the first to hit the 100 city mark and will continue to invest heavily to lead geographical penetration, in the food delivery market in India. We have seen market share grow in our main markets through the festive season and have plans for growth in December as well.”

Over the past year, Zomato has been strengthening its leadership team to accelerate the growth of the business and roped in Mohit Gupta in July to lead the change. The company is also experimenting with products that solve for affordability, accessibility, assortment and quality of food for the users, within India as well as internationally.

The online food aggregator platform now lists over 1.4 million restaurants across 24 countries, and serves over 50 million monthly users.

The company also hires operations executives and marketing professionals. Zomato’s development team operates from its headquarters in Gurgaon, Haryana.
